Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D-FL), and Congressman Joe Crowley (D-NY) introduced the Child Care Access to Resources for Early-learning Act (the Child C.A.R.E. Act), which furthers the purposes of the Child Care and Development Block Grant reauthorization. This makes landmark investment in the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) that helps families with young children afford high-quality child care. At our member regional meetings this past September we showed the second episode of The Raising of America, “Once Upon a Time”, that told the story about how a federal bill was almost passed in 1971 that would have provided access to high quality, affordable early care and education to all American families. If you haven’t seen the episode or want to watch it again, you can view The Raising of America online for free until February 15th. http://www.raisingofamerica.org/once-upon-time
The evidence is clear and surmounting for the importance of investing in the early years of life and the long term payoff in better outcomes for children as they grow. Help this nation build the momentum to move this bill forward and change the trajectory for millions of children and families.
We urge you to take a stand to advocate for the passage of the Child C.A.R.E. Act as it proceeds through the legislative process over this year. To start you can send the letter below to your federal representatives urging them to support the Child C.A.R.E. Act. We encourage you to post about the bill using the hashtags #ChildCareWorks #investinkids.
