The Network’s research team collects, analyzes, and publishes statewide and county-specific information and data on the supply, demand, and cost of child care services, along with reports on broad and specific issues impacting the child care workforce, child care resource and referral services, and factors affecting the child care system. This information is gathered with the assistance of the 61 state-funded R&Rs through their work with parents and providers in local communities. Network data is used by national, state, and local policy makers, business leaders, health care professionals, educators, planning agencies, and child care advocacy organizations to understand and respond to the child care needs of California families.
The Network's signature research document, The California Child Care Portfolio, has been produced biennially since 1997.
