Paying for Child Care

Some California families qualify to receive financial assistance from the government to help pay for their child care. Your local child care R&R can tell you if you qualify.

Child Care Payment Programs

California offers several options to assist income-eligible families pay for child care.

Alternative Payment Programs (AP) are funded through the California Department of Education. Other funding is available through Welfare Departments in each county. These funds originate from the California Department of Social Services.

Tax Credits

Earned Income Tax Credit Information for the 2010 Tax Year
The California Child Care Resource and Referral Network and Parent Voices are working together with the National Women’s Law Center to promote tax credits for working families. These tax credits can provide tremendous benefits to working families by helping them to make ends meet. Often times work is not enough to lift some families out of poverty. The federal tax refunds, such as the federal Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit, help working families pay for housing, food, eduacation, debt reduction and the opportunity to save and increase their assets. It helps lift children and families out of poverty and puts money back into our local economy. For more information you can download these flyers:
