In 2007, Parent Voices joined the Marguerite Casey Foundation's Equal Voice Campaign for America's Families. In coordination with over 200 other grantees from across the country, low wage working families will have to develop a "Working Families Platforms." Parents will have the opportunity to attend town hall meetings to develop their platform.
SAVE THE DATE!

Knowledge is Power-our annual January advocacy training (held regionally in four parts of the state: Oakland, Southern California, Fresno, and Sacramento) informs parents about the Governor’s budget proposals, provides interactive learning about the state budget and legislative process utilizing skits and role plays, and supports parents in developing their ideas and responses to the challenges ahead in the budget/legislative year

**Tax Credit for Working Families** The Child Care Resource and Referral Network and Parent Voices are working together with the National Women’s Law Center to promote tax credits for working families. These tax credits can provide tremendous benefits to working families by helping them to make ends meet. Often times work is not enough to lift some families out of poverty. The federal tax refunds, such as the federal Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit, help working families pay for housing, food, eduacation, debt reduction and the opportunity to save and increase their assets. It helps lift children and families out of poverty and puts money back into local our local economy.
It is important that the hard working families of Parent Voices and the Network know about and utilize these tax credits. That is why we have teamed up with the National Women’s Law Center to help us provide interested partners with information, fliers, fact sheets and media strategies to get the word out.
